crapey and drapey

Posted in Video on Wednesday August 20, 2008 by andtheivy

Lisa posted one of the funniest blog posts I have seen in a long time. You MUST go check it out. I had to post this particular video, for many (MANY) reasons.

I’m a little uncomfortable with the violent breathing technique and the fact that she doesn’t address it.  Creepy.

Thanks for the laughs, Lis! You really outdid yourself (and the rest of us!) with this one.

At first I was creeped out. Then I was drawn in. Pretty creative, actually!

Ice Skating Monkeys

I think I saw a triple sow cow in there. Also, monkeys apparently get christmas sweaters over sequined leotards when they skate. Go figure.

Brain Magic

Astounding. Someone please explain.

This is a bit long (almost 20 minutes), but it hooked me. No, seriously.  What. Is. Going. On?

“First, Keith Barry shows us how our brains can fool our bodies — in a trick that works via podcast too. Then he involves the audience in some jaw-dropping (and even a bit dangerous) feats of brain magic.”

Posted in With A Twist on Wednesday April 9, 2008 by andtheivy

This baby — with two faces, two noses, two pairs of lips and two pairs of eyes — was born about 30 miles east of New Delhi, India. She is doing well and is being worshipped as the reincarnation of a Hindu goddess.

Dinner In The Sky

I don’t think I could ever really enjoy a dining experience at this “establishment”, what with my irrational fear of heights and all.  But it is a cool idea for the rest of you.

Dinner In The Sky

I bet their insurance policy is outrageous.

Enter your zip code and find out all sort of fascinating things about where you live.

Who woulda thought that zero percent of us in Valencia would have an occupation in farm/fishing/forestry?  Weird.  Also, where’s my piece of that median income of $76,000?  And finally, the answer to that burning Longitude question: -118.562148.

Wash Your Hands With Momspit?

Posted in Gadgets, With A Twist on Friday November 2, 2007 by andtheivy

“If you don’t have kids, you might have missed this post about Momspit over at Babygadget. It took me a second to figure out why anyone would name a personal cleaning product with the word “spit” in it. Here’s the lovely description: ‘Momspit (inspired by the original) is the universal no-rinse cleanser. It’s not a sanitizer and does not contain any alcohol.’ I’m not sure of the benefit if it doesn’t sanitize (just as good as water?), though I suppose it has to be better than the real thing.

It’s $9 for 2 ounces, or $18 for 7 ounces of this yucky product.”

Woe and Tell

The below is part of the Get Mortified project in which adults share embarrassing photos, diaries, etc. from their childhoods.  Here are just a couple from the “Woe and Tell” portion of the site.

Oh, and I most definitely plan on submitting my 6th grade school picture.  You know the one.
